Anyone who has gone ‘hands on’ in a situation understands how thin the line is between appropriate use of force and inappropriate use of force. However, when two officers have control of a person, it is certainly inappropriate for the third officer to disengage, draw their weapon, and shoot them. Everyone who is tasked with using violence should be very cautious in the use of that violence, and police officers have historically not been very judicious in their use of force against people of color.
