A Reuters photo showed a Black woman on July 4 riding a Metro train while surrounded by masked members of a white supremacist group. When the woman’s brother, Paul Bowlding, saw it, he recognized the woman as his older sister Bernita Bowlding. Paul said he was worried about his sister becoming a target. He said her past struggles, including a previous arrest that she was criticized about online, happened when she was in a mental health crisis. Paul said he hopes that, no matter what comes of this moment, his sister will get the help she needs to address her challenges.
