Creative control isn’t something that’s automatically granted, nor should it be something you figure out along the way. It should be clearly defined before the project even starts. Determining creative control will almost always come down to your contract. In most brand deals, the client will want some level of approval, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up full control or abandon your vision. Creative control can be shared, limited, or retained, depending on how the agreement is structured. The key is setting expectations early so there’s no confusion once the work is underway. Protect your process by putting boundaries in writing, and make sure everyone understands their role before the final agreement is signed. #creatorcontracts #medialaw #creativecontrol #entertainmentlaw #branddeals
