It’s been 150 years since the Battle of the Little Bighorn, one of the most famous and enduring events in American history. While Native Americans were victorious, the battle reshaped the government’s policy toward Indigenous people. “I still look at it as a moment in history that we should be proud of," said Trina Lone Hill, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. "They're the last ones to surrender. They're the last ones to come onto the reservations and accept our new fate basically.” While it's the 150th anniversary of the battle, it's also been 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. America's founding document culminates with a list of grievances against the British crown and contains cruel words about Native Americans. Judy Woodruff reports for her series, Crossroads: America at 250. #UShistory #History #news
