The ghost orchid needs it wet. Found in the flooded swamps of South Florida, this leafless epiphyte anchors itself to the bark of pop ash and pond apple trees, absorbing water and nutrients directly from the humid air. It blooms rarely (typically between June and August) producing a distinctive white flower with long, trailing petals. Listed as endangered in Florida, it survives only in a handful of protected wetland preserves, where stable water levels are critical to its existence. #ghostorchid #everglades #florida #onlyparks #trussy
