A driver launched his vehicle off an embankment – flying over another car – while fleeing from police in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on May 9. According to local news reports, the driver, identified by authorities as Dewayne Stokes, was wanted for a felony warrant and fled from Wisconsin State Police during a traffic stop. Dashcam video from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office shows the chase down Pioneer Road, which culminated in a high-flying jump over another vehicle and crash-landing into a small field, after which the suspect tried to escape on foot. A sheriff’s deputy deployed a Taser to take down Stokes and he was arrested. Stokes was charged with fleeing/eluding, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony bail jumping, and resisting/obstructing an officer, according to the sheriff’s office.
