Hi, it's Juliana! So why do narcissistic people do this? They want to control how you're feeling and acting, without ever having to actually say it out loud. And usually, the thing that sets it off is you. Specifically, you getting attention. Or seeming too happy. Too free. Too confident. Too into something other than them. Because underneath it all, a lot of narcissistic people have this unconscious need to be the dominant emotional presence in the room. So when their partner suddenly seems carefree, expressive, or joyful in a way that's outside of their control, it triggers something. Jealousy. Insecurity. The feeling of losing their grip on the situation. And the look becomes the fix. It's a way to pull you back into focusing on them, without ever having to ask. Without ever having to say "I'm uncomfortable." Without ever having to admit they're feeling threatened by your happiness. Just one look, and you're adjusting. If you need someone to talk to about all of this, you can always send me a DM or schedule a session with me. My team and I help people heal from narcissistic abuse, and many of us have experienced it ourselves, so we're here if you need us. To your healing, Juliana ❤️🩹
