Backpacking The Lost Coast Trail in California 🌊⛺️🥾 I did this trail 2 years ago and it completely blew my mind, so I had to come back a second time. As much as I love the Sierras, I think the coast has its own unique magic. I planned this trip last minute as usual lol. I saw a permit available a week before and immediately got it. I drove 5 hrs from the Bay Area to Shelter Cove, stayed at the campground there, got some really good food and beer, and the next morning headed to the trailhead. The first day I hiked around 7 miles to Cooskie Camp. Absolutely beautiful hike with incredible ocean views the entire way. I found an amazing campsite overlooking the coast, explored the area a bit, started a fire, and made rigatoni with tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, and cherry tomatoes. Of course I had to pair it with my favorite wine, Angelica Zapata Malbec. The sunset only came out for about 30 minutes, but it was absolutely beautiful. I chilled by the fire the rest of the evening and went to bed. The next morning I woke up after 10 hrs of sleep lol. It was raining a little, but after waiting for a bit it cleared up. I made some classic Outdoor Boys bread with coffee, packed my stuff, and kept hiking. Day 2 was around 10 miles with tons of wildlife and constantly changing landscapes. I camped at Big Flat Camp, filtered some water, talked with a few other backpackers, and this time made a charcuterie board by the fire before heading to bed early. The last morning it was raining again, this time a little harder, so I skipped breakfast and started hiking back to Shelter Cove. Before making it back to the parking lot, I had to finally soak my feet in the Pacific Ocean after spending 3 days avoiding the tides and water lol. It felt amazing. This trip was absolutely beautiful. The Lost Coast really feels like a completely different side of California and I’ll definitely be coming back again someday. I hope you enjoy the video and I’ll see you on the next one 🙌 #camping #lostcoasttrail #storytelling #hiking
