Daisy Edgar-Jones' dad had words of wisdom for his daughter when she skyrocketed to fame after starring in "Normal People" in 2020. On the Open Book with Jenna podcast, Edgar-Jones told Jenna Bush Hager that her father, British television executive Philip Edgar-Jones, watched many people shed their anonymity while running the reality show "Big Brother." When “Normal People” was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he reached out to her over the phone and on video calls to prepare her for what might lay ahead. “(He) essentially said, there might be some things that will shift for you, and here’s just some words I’ve learned of wisdom. Which is that you might not change, but the world around you might, and the way people interact with you might, and so remembering that you haven’t changed, that you are who you are and you are the same person that you were pre all of this is really important to keep your feet on the floor.” You can listen to Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jenna Bush Hager's full conversation by searching the Open Book with Jenna podcast wherever you get your podcasts.
