This is how I cleaned these $2,200 Chanel leather sandals: I worked on the gum first because it was pretty gross. To do this I used GooGone, acetone, and high proof grain alcohol which all work great against gum. However I needed to do some light scraping to fully remove the thick parts. Once the gum was gone, I used a water based leather cleaner to handle the leather. Some additional light scraping was done at the toe area to loose up that before application. Now that the entire shoe is clean, I conditioned it with a leather conditioner to ensure the leather stays hydrated, soft, and protected.
